The Commission consists of an appointed, volunteer board of directors
(Commissioners), and a paid professional staff. Member communities with a population of less than 10,000 population appoint two representatives to the Board (and alternates if they choose). Members with more than 10,000 in population appoint up to four commissioners. The Commissioners meet monthly, except in December and August, to carry out business such as adopting and overseeing the annual work program and budget, and to establish Commission policies on a variety of land use and planning issues important in the region, and to discuss current planning topics.
