RPC Standard Community Map Sets

Standard Map Descriptions

RPC has developed a set of ‘Standard’ maps to be produced for all communities within the region for use in local land use planning and resource protection.  The content of the maps was determined based on review of existing master plan maps and GIS data availability.

Once produced, hard copy sets of the maps are provided to the Planning Boards of each community.  Additional hard copy maps are available to municipal boards and municipal departments of member communities by request.  The maps are 24" x 36" in size.

  1. Transportation Map – Roads by Legislative Highway Classification; bus routes; commuter rail service; traffic count locations; bicycle routes, elevation contours.
  1. Zoning Map – Zoning districts as mapped by RPC- not official zoning map.
  1. Land Use Map - 1998 Land use from GRANIT- CICEET Land Use Change Study.
  1. Surface Water Resources Map - Hydric soils; National Wetlands Inventory; watershed divides; flood hazard areas.
  1. Stratified Drift Aquifers Map - Aquifers by Transmissivity.
  1. Conservation Map – GRANIT Conservation Lands and any updates by RPC; Local Resource Protection Priorities; National Register of Historic Places; Old Graveyards.
  1. Composite Tax Map - Where available
  1. Community Facilities Map - Facilities such as town halls, schools, police and fire stations, community centers, water/sewer service areas.
  1. Soil Potential for Development Map – Soil potential for Ratings for Low Density Development as listed by the Rockingham County Conservation District.
  1. Digital Orthophoto Map – 1998 black & white or 2003 colorized infrared where available. These can't be supplied on the website, they are too large for .PDF format.  Please refer to the GIS policy and request accordingly.

  2. 2008 CSPA Map - This map shows the waters that are covered under the revised 2008 Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act (CSPA).  This map shows the buffers that this RSA calls for.  It should be noted, these downloadable maps are lacking the background aerial photo that is included on the printed version.  The aerial photo made the maps too big to download.

Please Note: RPC makes these maps available as a service to our communities.  While continual efforts are made to improve the quality of our mapped data sets, errors and omissions may be present.  RPC makes no guarantee of the accuracy and completeness of these maps.  In most cases, we have compiled map features from GRANIT and other state agencies.
